11 aprile 2025 – Incontro tra Eco Ambassadors dell’IISS Jacopo del Duca- Diego Bianca Amato di Cefalù e studenti dell’IC Minà Palumbo di Castelbuono

Nell’ambito del progetto Erasmus+ Green Schools for Green Europe, il giorno 11 aprile 2025 dodici Eco Ambassadors dell’IISS “Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato” di Cefalù hanno incontrato le classi prime dell’Istituto Comprensivo “Minà Palumbo” di Castelbuono, in un’importante giornata di sensibilizzazione ambientale e condivisione di esperienze organizzata dalle figure più direttamente coinvolte nel progetto, tra cui la Dirigente Scolastica Prof.ssa , Antonella Cancila, il coordinatore del progetto, Prof. Gianni Catanese, l’esperto di green sport, Prof. Vincenzo Restivo e l’esperta di Eco-Art, Prof.ssa Fortunata Luparello. Quest’ultima ha guidato un laboratorio creativo incentrato sull’arte sostenibile, coinvolgendo attivamente studenti e ambasciatori in un’esperienza formativa e stimolante.

L’incontro si è articolato in due momenti distinti: inizialmente presso i locali scolastici dell’IC Minà Palumbo, dove gli studenti dell’istituzione scolastica cefaludese hanno raccontato il loro percorso di formazione e cittadinanza attiva, e successivamente presso “La Badia”, struttura simbolo della comunità castelbuonese.

Alla Badia erano presenti numerosi docenti del Minà Palumbo, scuola che vanta una consolidata esperienza in ambito Erasmus+, grazie anche alla guida del Prof. Angelo Casablanca, docente di lingua inglese e il Vicepreside dell’istituto, Prof. Vincenzo Meli.

Durante l’incontro sono stati proiettati i momenti più significativi del progetto Green Schools for Green Europe: dalle mobilità di formazione per i docenti realizzate nel 2023 presso l’Università partner di Riga e delle Ong di Oslo e di Eskişehir, fino alle successive mobilità studentesche nel 2024 a Vicedario (Gran Canaria), L’Aia (Paesi Bassi) e Antalya (Turchia). Le attività messe in pratica durante questi scambi hanno spaziato tra economia circolare, eco-art e sport in natura, con l’obiettivo di stimolare una coscienza ambientale concreta e condivisa tra i giovani europei.

La Prof.ssa, Antonella Cancila, nel suo intervento ha saputo coinvolgere e motivare profondamente la numerosa platea di docenti e alunni della scuola di Castelbuono, uno dei borghi più green del comprensorio madonita, sottolineando l’importanza della rete educativa e della cooperazione europea per la costruzione di un futuro più sostenibile. Ha anche fornito agli alunni pastelli colorati ecologici e fogli di cartoncino bianco, invitando ciascun gruppo classe a rappresentare attraverso disegni e piccoli manufatti la propria idea di sostenibilità. Il workshop ha dato vita a un’esplosione di creatività e consapevolezza, in cui i più giovani hanno espresso il desiderio di impegnarsi attivamente per ridurre l’impatto ambientale, tutelare il patrimonio naturale e contribuire, nel proprio quotidiano, alla salvaguardia delle Madonie e dell’ambiente in generale.

A suggellare l’intera giornata, è stata firmata la Lettera di Intenti redatta prima dell’incontro, che sancisce l’impegno congiunto tra l’IISS “Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato” di Cefalù e l’IC “Minà Palumbo” di Castelbuono a collaborare attivamente su tematiche legate alla sostenibilità ambientale, all’educazione ecologica e alla cittadinanza europea. Un gesto concreto che testimonia la volontà di costruire ponti tra le scuole, i territori e le generazioni future, nel nome della cura e del rispetto per l’ambiente.

April 11th, 2025 – Eco Ambassadors from IISS Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato in Cefalù meet the students of IC Minà Palumbo in Castelbuono

As part of the Erasmus+ project Green Schools for Green Europe, on April 11th, 2025, the 12 Eco Ambassadors from IISS “Jacopo del Duca – Diego Bianca Amato” in Cefalù met with first-year students from the “Minà Palumbo” Comprehensive Institute in Castelbuono, for a meaningful day of environmental awareness and exchange of experiences.

The event unfolded in two main stages: an initial meeting at the school premises of IC Minà Palumbo, where the Cefalù students shared their journey as active citizens and sustainability advocates, and a second gathering at “La Badia,” a symbolic and historical venue in Castelbuono.

Numerous teachers from Minà Palumbo took part in the meeting, representing a school with strong Erasmus+ experience gained over the years under the guidance of Angelo Casablanca, a teacher of English and the Vice Principal of the institute, Vincenzo Meli, a teacher of PE.

During the event, some of the most significant moments of the Green Schools for Green Europe project were showcased. These included the teacher training mobilities hosted by the partner University in Riga (2023) and the partner Ngo’s inOslo, and in Eskisehir followed by student exchanges in Vicedario (Gran Canaria, 2024), The Hague (Netherlands, 2024), and Antalya(Turkey, 2024). Key project themes such as circular economy, eco-art, and outdoor nature-based sports were practiced and developed during these international experiences.

The Principal of IISS Jacopo del Duca, Antonella Cancila, delivered an engaging and inspiring speech that captivated both teachers and students of the Castelbuono school — one of the greenest villages in the Madonie area — highlighting the importance of educational networks and European cooperation in building a more sustainable future.

At the end of the event, Principal Cancila handed out eco-friendly colored pencils and whitecardboard sheets to the students. Each class group was invited to express their personal vision ofsustainability through drawings and creative artifacts. The workshop sparked a burst of creativity and environmental awareness, as students pledged to pay closer attention to their actions and reduce their environmental impact — both globally and within the unique Madonie natural heritage.

To officially mark the collaboration between the two schools, the Letter of Intent, drafted prior to the meeting, was signed by both parties, confirming their joint commitment to promoting environmental education, ecological awareness, and active European citizenship. A symbolic yet concrete gesture of cooperation that strengthens the educational bond between territories and generations.
